The exception is maybe the Lakebottom area, there’s lots of old money in that part of town, lots of professionals live there, it’s not bad but it can be expensive to live in Lakebottom depending on where you go. For the most part, you’ll less liable to run into trouble north of Macon Road and you’re more likely to find trouble south of Macon Road, especially around the Victory Drive/Benning Road/South Lumpkin and North Lumpkin Road areas. The dividing line for the okay and not so great parts of town is Macon Road. If you think things are bad, do something. I say this to everyone reading: there are a number of groups asking for help with their efforts to target the sources of the crime here. You can absolutely drive through South Columbus. The Riverwalk is fine, though yeah, I probably wouldn't wander its farther reaches at night, just because it gets fairly remote fairly quickly. Not even regarding 'll just make your quality of life better. Just look for a place around CSU, Lakebottom/Weracoba, or downtown. It is NOT THAT BAD, people are ridiculous.
